Hamworthy Harriers Newsletter September 2018.

It’s been one of the busiest Months ever for the Harriers & friends and in particular it has been a Month of International events. If you class Newcastle as a different country.

The Month kicked off with Geoff Scott participating in the Bolbec Half Marathon in France on the 1 st September. This was Geoff’s 23 rd trip to Bolbec and this year Geoff & Sarah Barrett ran the undulating course as a 2-person relay.

Geoff & Sarah were the 78 th team to finish out of a total of 115 teams in a combined total of 2:12:00 and were the first GB team home. Well done Geoff & Sarah.

A couple of days later Geoff was back to lead the walk from the Lambs Green while others, led by Ian Edwards, had a very enjoyable run.

The following weekend on the 9 th it was Mike Flecks annual trip Yem to the Toon with 50,000 other gadgies & lasses to participate in the Great North Run. This was Mikes 38 th Great North Run since the event was first run in 1981 but unfortunately this was probably the toughest to date due to a niggly hamstring injury and an unwelcome cold. Nevertheless, Mike finished in 1:50:35.

On the same day it was the New Forest Half Marathon and this year there was a great turn out with Harriers and family completing the race. Rebecca Collins finished in 1:51:55, Jeannette Pike 2:00:37 (PB), Katherine Pike 1:58:11 and Jonathan Pike 1:44:16. !
