Draycote Water 35 Mile Race

Hamworthy harriers Mark Caldecourt and John McClelland travelled to Draycote Water near to Rugby to compete in the Draycote Water 35 Mile Road Race.

It was to be Johns second running of the event and for Mark it was part of his build up for the Marathon De Sables in April. The course consisted of seven laps around the reservoir. The weather this year was kinder to the competitors, with intermittent rain replacing the bitter cold of last years event.

Mark  started strongly and was looking comfortable and well placed in the early stages of the race. He maintained a controlled pace to finish strongly and with plenty in reserve in a personal best of 4:38. Mark again using the event as part of his build up to this years Marathon Des Sables held in Morocco in April.

John ran a steady race, always in control and showing the resolve that has bought him success as an Ultra runner, finished in a time of 5:27, a personal best for the distance.
