This year saw the largest contingent of more than 40 Harriers travel to  Devon for this years Midsummer Dream Beer run.

Although the weather was dull and overcast this did not dampen the spirits and  the Harriers set off for the start of the run with spirits raised high

Axe Valley farm camp site was the Harriers base and the local pubs did a roaring trade with those who had arrived on Friday getting some last minute drinking practice.

As the Harriers were warming up with a pre race pint outside the Hook and Parrot there was a murmur and then a roar as International Athlete and Film Personality "Borat"  (AKA Mark Caldecourt) jogged toward the pub dressed  in a very, very revealing lime green costume. To say that there was pandemonium would be to understate the reception that Mark received,  you need what has been described as "Chutzpa" to carry something like this off, and Mark had it in Spades. Originally planning to change in to more traditional running attire at the first Pub stop, Mark carried on around the whole of the 18 miles leaving a trail of laughter and astonishment in his wake. Well done Mark

Meanwhile the rain had started but did not dampen the spirits of the runners and walkers who staggered / ran / walked around the course through streams and muddy fields from pub to pub before arriving back at the Hook and Parrot.

There will be some photo's on the site soon.

And once again a heartfelt thanks for Andy and Julie Henegan for organising breakfast for the harriers.
